Collard greens are members of the family of cruciferous vegetables and provide valuable cancer fighting phytochemicals. One cup of collard greens provides the same amount of calcium as 8 ounces of milk and 5 grams of fiber. Collard greens also contain magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, vitamin C, vitamin K and vitamin A plus beta-carotene, zeaxanthin and lutein.
This recipe is really quite tasty. I used a honey crisp apple which makes it extra sweet. Enjoy this “soul food” smoothie!
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs
