Liquid Chlorophyll can be bought in a health food store or online, but even better than that, did you know you can add chlorophyll to your diet by drinking smoothies and fresh organic juices every day?
Chlorophyll is the pigment that makes algae, cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and every plant green. It is the most important molecule in photosynthesis which allows plants to receive energy from light.
Our blood and chlorophyll have structures very similar. Hemoglobin is made up of four elements- hydrogen, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen built around iron. Chlorophyll is constructed of the identical elements built around magnesium. It’s green blood! Isn’t it amazing that we humans breathe in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide and our green plants and trees do the opposite?
Adding large amounts chlorophyll rich vegetable juices to our diets is like getting a blood and organ cleanser by washing our bodies from the inside out. Chlorophyll is known as an internal healer. In fact, there are many, many benefits:
- helps to build healthy, red blood cells
- furnishes iron to organs
- delivers magnesium which makes our body more alkaline.
- helps to cleanse the liver
- reduces typhoid fever
- removes toxins and heavy metals
- increases the disease resistance of cells
- prevents the growth of bacteria
- helps our bodies heal faster from wounds and illness,
- improves teeth and gums
- neutralizes body odor
- improves varicose veins
- promotes milk production
- treats inflammation of the uterine cervix
- regulates the menstrual cycle
- relieves sore throat
- reduces inflammation
- heals rectal sores
- helps skin disorders like eczema or psoriasis
- has antiseptic benefits
- improves eye health
In November 2001, a professor of Environmental Health Sciences at Johns Hopkins, Dr Thomas Kensler, reported that chlorophyll reduced DNA damage caused by exposure to a strong carcinogen called aflatoxin. He advised taking chlorophyll or consuming quantities of green vegetables to be the best way to reduce the risks of liver cancers and other cancers caused by toxins of the environment.
All plants contain chlorophyll. The vegetables highest in chlorophyll are alfalfa, wheat grass, asparagus, barley grass, bell peppers, beet greens, green cabbage, collard greens, brussel sprouts, broccoli, green beans, kale, leeks, green olives, parsley, romaine lettuce, spinach, Swiss chard, turnip greens and sea vegetables.
It is vital that our consumption of chlorophyll rich vegetables outweighs our consumption of harmful foods. After regular juicing and drinking green smoothies, you will notice that your tastes change and you will naturally start to crave more green vegetables and fresh fruits. Your body will heal faster and you will feel energized and revitalized. And because you are not able to eat several pounds of kale and other greens, juicing serves as a great alternative. This way we get substantial amounts of liquid chlorophyll that we need to help repair and heal our bodies. Green does a body good!
