Cleanse Your Body and Mind with These 3 Detox Programs

We tend to associate the start of a new year with the idea of turning over a new leaf as we enter another chapter in our lives.

For some, this can be letting go of some bad habits whereas others simply wish to live a better and healthier life in the coming year.

Of course, we’re already in February and it’s easy to get swept in with all the work and family-related stuff all happening at once, but this doesn’t mean it’s too late to introduce some change.

A lot of us have spent years consuming extremely low-quality food, mainly through our college years with all the junk food we put in our system, and a cleanse is definitely due.

This article will go over some of the detoxification trends that you may want to jump on before your motivation to improve in 2023 is all dried up.

Of course, this does bring up the question of why you should even detox in the first place, seeing as you’re still fairly healthy and all.

Well, the idea behind a detox is to cut out anything that isn’t contributing to your body’s well-being, and believe us when we say there’s a lot of it, some of which you probably weren’t even aware of.

By switching up your diet and incorporating some healthier meals on a more regular basis, you’ll allow your liver some much-needed break time, and the rest of your body will also be thanking you.

Detox therapies help remove inflammation from our other organs, and once our fat cells can release these toxins from our bodies, things will begin to improve for the better and you’ll feel a massive improvement in no time.

Smoothies

A smoothie detox plan became popular recently due to it being mentioned by Lizzo, a musician and body-positivity movement advocate who documented her detox progress on TikTok.

In the videos she shared, Lizzo showed herself drinking green smoothies and shakes every day as she attempted to detox her body.

According to Lizzo, the cleanse helped her recover from some of the damage that alcohol and junk food had done to her stomach, and after she finished the cleanse, she claimed to be feeling amazing.

However, Lizzo didn’t jump on this trend for weight loss, and she has retained her current weight to some degree, but rather, she wanted to put a hard reset on her digestive system and introduce some much-needed change in her life.

Nutritionists will recommend you drink up to 2 smoothies every day, although you should make sure that you’re receiving sufficient nutrition with them, and this also refers to sugar content.

Bone broth

You’ve probably already included vegetable, beef, or chicken broth in your meals, and while they do add a lot of taste to the food you’re cooking, you probably never considered having them on their own.

While standard broth likely won’t add anything to your current dieting plan, a bone broth may be revolutionary when it comes to cleansing your body.

It can also be store-bought, and it’s equally as good to consume, but you might want to cook your own, just so you’re completely familiar with every single ingredient that went into making it.

Consuming broth like this on a common basis will help your body improve its immune system as well as clean out your gut lining and give you a high concentration of minerals.

On top of this, bone broth has a high gelatin content, and it’s what helps your body fight inflammation while also soothing your digestive system.

In fact, this cleanse is so effective that most people tend to see results within the first three days, although it’s not to be taken lightly and it should be followed up with steamed vegetables to ensure sufficient nutrition intake.

Mediterranean diet

Of course, cleanses and detox programs are temporary, and your body probably couldn’t handle it if you kept on drinking nothing but smoothies for a full month.

Chances are that you’d mess up your digestive system even more at that point, but a detox isn’t everything you can do if you’re trying to improve your health through dieting.

Sometimes, a better option is swapping out your dietary preferences entirely, and a Mediterranean diet is a great substitute.

Through this program, you’ll teach yourself to consume adult-sized servings of fruit and vegetables at least 7 times a week, followed up with a meal containing fish at least 2 times every week.

Apart from this, you’ll also incorporate a lot of grain and healthy fats into your daily eating plan, allowing you to increase your intake of animal protein and fats that may be able to help your body overcome some of the damage from your previous dieting plan.

The foods you’ll want to focus on are rolled oats, Lettuce wraps filled with seafood and vegetables, and finally, tofu, the vegan alternative to cheese that has thousands of applications across hundreds of meals.
