Turnip Green Juice

turnipgreens

  • 7-8 organic turnip green leaves
  • 1 organic lemon peeled
  • thumb sized piece of organic ginger
  • 2 large organic cucumbers
  • 2 organic apples

I love juicing turnip greens because they add a little spice to my juice along with all of the nutritional benefits.

Did you know…?

Turnip greens are excellent for detoxification. These greens have more glucosinolates than any other cruciferous vegetables such as kale, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower. Glucosinolates are sulfur compounds that are converted into ITCs, isothiocyanates, which help protect against cancer in three ways: they don’t allow carcinogens to be activated, they counteract the toxic effects of the carcinogens that have been activated and help to quickly remove it from the body.

Turnip greens contain 4 times more calcium than cabbage.

Turnip greens are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin E, manganese and beta-carotene. Other key antioxidant phytonutrients are hydroxycinnamic acid, myricetin, quercetin, isorhamnetin and kaempferol.

They also contain two anti-inflammatory nutrients, vitamin K and omega 3 fatty acids (in the form of alpha linolenic acid).
