Many bananas grown in Central and South America are sprayed with the pesticide dibromochloropropane or DBCP. It’s banned in the United States because of the devastating effects it has on the human body. However, the United States still imports bananas from farms in Central and South America and other countries that use DBCP. The pesticide is known to cause birth defects, cancer, breathing problems, skin problems, dizziness, confusion and death. The people who work on the farms are often unable to work due to being poisoned and are unable to provide for their families.
When you see this video, you’ll see why your choices are so important. Choose organic bananas and support organic farms and their workers.
